Introducing Shona Thomlinson (nee Dunkley)

I’ve have always had an interest in the human body and it’s ability to heal itself. So when I was at university, I studied human physiology in the second year of my Bachelor of Science degree. Back in those days, only medical students were allowed to go further in this field. So I opted to become a secondary school science and biology teacher.

Whilst studying at university I started having problems with a sore neck. I tried a manipulation technique, but it just didn’t feel right.  A friend of a friend had been going for Body Stress Release to help her with her neck. She convinced me that it was a really gentle technique so I decided to give it a try. Well, I was amazed that such a gentle technique could have such a large impact. To say the least I was sold on it and spent the next couple of years referring everyone to them.

To my delight, they started training people in the Body Stress Release technique. So in 1994, I managed to cut back to a half day job (thanks to an amazing boss) and juggle between the course, work and family.

Gail and Ewald Meggersee meticulously trained us in the Body Stress Release technique. After qualifying I spent half a year working from the Body Stress Release Clinic in Rosmead Ave, Cape Town. Family life with young children took over, so I pulled back to only practicing Body Stress Release on a couple of regular clients.

This technique taught me about the body’s amazing ability to bring about self-healing, when given a little assistance.

Towards the end 2006, I decided to move to Australia. In preparation for this move, I decided to arm myself with a few more tools in my toolbox. So I learnt about Quantum Touch and attended many of their workshop. This technique  allows healing energy to flow through you. This was something completely different for me as you simply applied the light touch technique to the area with the most pain and then moved as the pain moved. This  was a fascinating energetic technique.

The next technique to grab my interest was Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). So I qualified as a Master NLP practitioner through Rita Marr. I think the main thing that fascinated me about this technique is that it is possible to re-program your brain. If, for example, you have an awful experience, you have associated an emotion with that situation. This association stays with you. There is no harm in this, unless you need to continually be in this situation. It is possible for you to replace the original association with a different one, that makes it easier for you to cope in the situation.

I have been going to Shona for years for relief from back pain. As a teenager, I hurt my back and then in my 40's I had a fusion of L4 and L5 vertebrae. They said I would probably need another op down the track.
Whenever my back stiffens up and I have lower back pain, then I pop in to see Shona to sort it out. I find I have instant relief from the tight spasms. I'd highly recommend her for Body Stress Release.

Whenever I start to feel overwhelmed by university exam pressure, or the build up of assignments etc. I go to Shona for Kinesiology. She helps reduce my stress and I leave having a better handle on what is going on in my life.
I think that Kinesiology is so effective that I even pay for my friends to go.
I'd really recommend you give it a go. It is unusual, but you will find you keep going back to her for more.

Heather - 20 yr femaleStress / Anxiety

I have been to Shona for a few Body Stress Release sessions. I have a history of broken bones etc from my motor cross days. I tend to have pain most of the time. After the session I felt like a had more flexibility and less pain. I was surprised that such a light pulse could have such an impact.

Harry - 21yr MaleReduced my level of pain

I'd like to say a big huge thanks for my Kinesiology balance, it kept my nerves down all week and although on the day I was so nervous as I was speaking, I completely lost my thoughts and went completely blank. But I was able to come back from it and keep going.

Moving to Australia and reconnecting with my passions

The family moved to Perth, Australia in 2008 and I spent the first couple of years settling down and completing my Certificate IV in Life Coaching.
My ongoing curiosity in energetic healing modalities, lead me to attend the first level of Reikitraining through Roger Weston. This was a different energetic approach to healing.

A few years ago, a friend told me she was going to a Kinesiology open day at the O’Neill Kinesiology College. I’d never heard of Kinesiology, so I decided to go along to support her. The presenters told you a little about the technique, then did a demonstration. My initial reaction, whilst watching was, this is weird. Then we were offered the opportunity to experience a short session. Well I was blown away. The lady, who I had never met before, was able to tell me so much about my self. As I watched and experienced the session, my brain was working overtime. I was making connections with so many facets of the kinesiology technique: they monitor the body’s responses to determine what needs to be done, they use affirmations to replace old stuck thought patterns with new supportive thoughts, they use energetic techniques to move stuck energy, etc. By the end of the evening I had signed up for the three year advanced diploma course.

The course has been an incredible journey of learning and self discovery. This is because you are continually practicing on colleagues and being practiced on, over the three years.

During 2017, I was fascinated by the specialized Brain Integration modules that were taught by Jacque Mooney and Dr Charles Krebs. These are part of the Learning Enhancement Acupressure Program (LEAP). This program focuses on helping people with reading, writing, learning and coordination difficulties. At this stage, (start of 2019) I have completed all the Brain Integration assessments (1 to 4) and am finalising my last assessment to be a LEAP practitioner.

As you can see, I have had an interest in healing and healing modalities for the past 20 plus years. This has lead me to setting up a practice in an outside office at my home.  I now offer Body Stress Release and Advanced Functional Kinesiology and LEAP – Brain Integration from this venue in Perth.

I look forward to sharing these amazing techniques with you, so that you can…

Overcome barriers and build resilience for the future.
