I first came across flower essences in the form of Rescue Remedy more than 25 years ago.  When my children were growing-up, I wouldn’t go anywhere without a bottle of Rescue Remedy tucked in my bag.  Every time there were tears from falls, knocks etc, I’d pull out the bottle and put a few drops under their tongues.  After a short while, everything was forgotten and life moved on.  It also helped to calm exam nerves, job interview stress and dealing with emotional calamities.

Rescue Remedy is only one of 38 flower essences that were developed in the 1930’s by Dr Edward Bach, a Harley St doctor.  Bach found that “when he treated the personalities and feelings of his patients their unhappiness and physical distress would be alleviated naturally as the healing potential in their bodies was unblocked and allowed to work once more.” (www.bachcentre.com).

Many different flower essences have been developed by researchers following similar methods to Dr Bach.

We use muscle monitoring to determine which flower essences are needed.  One of my favourite reference books is, Attitude with Essence.  This was written by Dr Richard Utt, who researched the mapping of flower essences to meridians.

According to Dr Richard Gerber…

In vibrational Medicine, the use of flower essences can be explained in this way:

  • One of the best ways to change dysfunctional patterns, is to apply doses of frequency -specific vibrational medicine.
  • Physical matter vibrates at low frequencies, whereas subtle matter vibrates at speeds faster than the speed of light. Flower essences are charged with subtle energy. These subtle energies affect us at different levels.
  • Some flower essences work at a cellular level, whereas others affect the subtler energies associated with Chakras, Nadis and Meridians.
  • When flower essences are taken internally, their effect is amplified by the bio-crystalline energy system in our body.
  • Miasms are described as an energetic predisposition to a particular disease. These are inherited or acquired through exposure to viruses, bacteria and other toxic substances. These can be treated or neutralised with homeopathic remedies and flower essences.
